Desktop mode is interesting, because it will increase the overlap between android and ChromeOS, which already supports android apps — google doesn't seem to feel the need for clearly defined boundaries. Meanwhile, you can't get a macbook with a touchscreen, because apple already has a different touchscreen device.

I like google's approach. These categorie, laptop and phone, are not god-given. We're still figuring this out.
