Ask HN: How are companies compensating conference speakers?
I was wondering how are other companies dealing with employees giving talks during conferences. Are all of their expenses paid by the company? Are they additionally compensated? If yes - how, what are the rules. And most importantly - why?

Give the guy/gal $10,000 for the night. Their job, and as naturally it is to them, is to make "connections". It sounds petty but we all like our friends more than the general public lets be honest.
