In a connected world with social media amplifying peoples opinions, there will be a reaction when powerful people break a taboo. Why is that a problem? Why does idea seem so scary to people like the author? In a way it seems like Twitter exists precisely to enable this type of global consciousness, even Musk said it.
Peter Thiel doesn't like it. He thinks he should be 100% unaccountable. Of course, he can just pay his mini-me to pretend to be a leftist and interview him on his Youtube channel. I bet he gets a commission whenever you buy a Girard book.
I am LMFAO about how the "Cancel Culture" moral panic started with the editorial page of The New York Times because the people who write it get paid $10,000+ a pop to give commencement speeches and it is such a good racket that they don't want to lose it. Later on it became a popular cause with the alt-right (which is somewhat consistent) and then the mainstream right which likes banning books, "don't say gay", etc.
