I never had any sympathy to that spy. He hitched his ride to Russia and in a way, he is already being punished by living there. Now that he's a citizen, he better hope he can avoid mobilization.

It's a shame with whats happening with the war and the governments decisions, but I was fortunate enough to live in Saint Petersburg for several months and I really enjoyed the people I met, the food I ate, and the culture I experienced. I would love an opportunity to live and work there somewhere down the line, and it certainly would not be anything close to a punishment for me.
Russia is basically a bubble of two large world-class towns, and a gigantic third-world periphery (source: many friends who lived there). You've enjoyed yourself at one time, but the bubble is starting to burst, and Russia will not be the same anymore.
