I think the UFOs never were out of discussion. What I feel implied here is the alien factor, which is makes zero sense. If a civilization had the resources to come visit us, we would have been destroyed/enslaved by now. And this not taking I to account the laws of physics, that state a maximum speed to which anyone can travel, and even at that speed, it would take years, or generations, to travel to close by stars.
