This feels like going back to 1FA to me. I use a Password Manager and an Authenticator app, which I feel does the job well enough.

2FA often was a scam since they just abused your contact info which is a security breach.

They're outsourcing the password to phone : pin or fingerprint to unlock the phone and the authenticator app
