As a life long Cleveland Indians fan (grew up there), I realize that it was time to move on from the name. And when I first heard about it this morning I thought "That is the dumbest, most generic non-sensical name I've ever heard."
Until I realized after looking at the new logo that it really does pay homage to Cleveland and it's Art Deco flair. The wings on the ball in the logo are the wings on the helmets of the "Guardian" statues on the Hope Memorial Bridge in downtown. It will take time to get used to the new name, but it's time to move on. Now... if only they would give me one World Series win before I die.....
