I think pivoting to a foundry is a good move for Intel both in the short and long term. They are heavily reliant on their desktop chips which if they don’t hold on to their lead could put them in financial straits, having a strong second line of business is a huge safety net for them.

Agreed. In some ways, this situation couldn’t have happened at a better time for Intel.
