Ask HN: How do you deal with distractive incoming messages/mentions while WFH?

Creative work needs focus. And focus usually needs several hours of uninterrupted time.

Somehow counter-intuitively this often is harder for people to achieve while working from home. Notifications from Slack, Jira, email, google docs, etc. are coming randomly during the day - and there is probably 5% of them worth responding to, but you need to check every one of them to make sure you don't miss an important one.

Is this a problem for you as well? If YES - how do you deal with it?

Turn them off. Whether it's an application or a webpage, you don't have to allow them access to system notifications.

Turn off notifications. View manually once an hour.
