That's funny, considering many municipal budgets had started including line items for paying of ransoms. It's cheaper for them to just pay, than to buy some product and probably still get infected and pay anyway. I guess the budget will now expand to include giving the feds their cut.

Makes sense, as long as (as they do claim) they take into account that willing disclosure and reporting artifacts can't be penalised.

Yea, but this is hackernews. Half the posts are sensationalized to antagonize the u.s. government.

Or the current US government really has some major problems.
