Ask HN: Showcases for consumer privacy / data ethics?

I work for an advertising agency and I would like to put the topics of consumer's privacy, data protection and data ethics more on our and our client's maps. To successfully do that though, I need to answer the question: "Why should we care?". So, I would like to put together a presentation of showcases of companies who did something in this regard and thereby created value.

Where would I be looking for such cases which could work from the viewpoint of an ad agency? Like, cases, where companies made a strong stand in privacy/data protection/data ethics, communicated that in some clever way, and did get some measurable benefit out of this? Any examples coming to mind?
