Ask HN: Is Building a Unicorn a Myth?

I have been trying to build something people want since 2006.

My last venture - saas app - got attraction but still making a very small revenue, but seems to be going to have some relative success, which means I expect it to make $25,000 MRR after 18 months from now.

I got refused from ycombinator though, and other programs as well, and I don't expect to be able to raise fund.

Still, it doesn't mean it will be a unicorn but probably a multimillion dollars business instead.

Shouldn't we stop talking about unicorns and instead start trying to build a million or multimillion dollars startups instead? Isn't it more realistic?
