See upvote count for Ask HN submissions?

There are quite a few interesting ASK HN submissions that ask about books/resources/guidelines for specific subjects. I understand that on HN, vote counts are hidden to prevent bandwagoning but in certain situations, it would be really helpful to see how many people approve of a particular book over others, especially if the reader is new to the domain.

What would be cons of allowing such questions to have visible vote counts?
