Ask HN: Is anybody else affected by this recent ruling on TN Economists?

TLDR: If you're here on a TN visa (a NAFTA visa crafted for Canadians and Mexicans), and you're an Economist class, you'll be strictly relegated to the government definition of an economist (prepare statistical reports, look at macro trends etc.) Given that startups in Silicon Valley do hire for more broader roles and people's TN status is determined on a case-by-case basis, this is bound to cause trouble for anybody trying to leave the country on a TN Economist class visa.

It's essentially a threat of deportation for about 10k people, most of whom are in the Valley.

Has anybody had experience with the recent policy changes here?

Asking for myself and a few friends.
