Ask HN: Why can I hear my touchpad through my speakers?

I have USB-powered speakers connected to my Dell Latitude E7470 through the auxiliary audio jack.

With the volume near maximum on both my machine and the speakers, I hear electronic buzzing when swiping on my trackpad. How does that work?
