Ask HN: Canonical course/text for threads, processes, semaphores, etc.?

I'm writing bots for stockfighter.io and am having concurrency problems running two websocket connections at once. I'm a self-taught dev, have never dealt with these issues professionally, and feel like spending the time to "learn it right". Suggestions?
