Ask HN: How to rewrite a legacy system in GWT 2.4?

I have a CMS system in GWT 2.4 + Sencha. And maintaining it has been a real pain, with even trivial changes taking long and how it works is still somewhat mysterious. What is best way to go about it? Should we rewrite or incrementally try to replace the front-end with something better?
