Europe start thinking (and producing) big things

I surf the web lot and I investigate startup companies a lot as well. Like most people I believe on HN.

I am wondering why the startups in Europe focus on small and relative easy issues, rather than mind-boggling big and extreme world changing.

Does it came with our loooong history and small territory? I'm curious to hear how HackerNews thinks about this.
